SAC is committed to bringing the widest possible selection of groups to the Penn Community. Bringing the maximum possible diversity of groups to Penn means careful thought about which groups SAC can support so consider the following guidelines when considering if your group is eligible for SAC recognition:
- Is the group unique: SAC’s mission is to bring the most diverse selection of groups to Penn. This means that new SAC groups should be markedly different from any SAC groups currently in existence. This means that the prospective group’s mission and fund usage cannot coincide in any part with an existing SAC group. Additionally, the group should not be able to function as an extension or sub-committee of an existing group.
- Sustainability: All groups seeking SAC recognition must have been in existence for at least one year. Additionally, the group must have a board with a mix of upper classmen and a roster of past events the group has already put on. The group must also demonstrate an appeal to a reasonable portion of the Penn Community.
- Funding Suitability: Groups funding must be sustainable, meaning that they can function on the budget and regulation SAC provide. This also means that the funding SAC provides must explicitly align with the group’s stated mission.
- The group must attend the SAC training session at the time of its recognition in either November or March.
All groups interested obtaining SAC recognition need to set up a meeting with SAC Exec and should send an email to meeting[at]sacfunded.net with the following items:
- A copy of the SAC recognition questionnaire
- A copy of the group’s constitution
- A roster of the group’s current membership, including class years
- A list of past events the groups has held
In addition to sending in the documents you must schedule a meeting to present your recognition request to SAC Exec by emailing meeting[at]sacfunded.net. SAC Exec meets on Thursdays from 6-8pm in the Bishop White Room in Houston Hall. The recognition review will not begin until the meeting.
